Comedy or "Con"-edy
Back when there were no Pre- Shows
Aspiring Comedians went to Free open mics
And worked on finding what made them uniquely funny.
There were no comedy classes,
Maybe one, Dick Lord, so
Aspiring Comedians used their subconscious to think of funny things without the brainwashing of classes.
No rules gave birth to Steve Martin, Andy Kaufman
And Rodney Dangerfield.
You did comedy for love not money for many years.
Now there are poachers ready to exploit the dreams of innocent and not so innocent aspiring comedians looking for a shortcut and easy money.
The easiest person to con is supposed to be a con man
So people driven primarily by making money ASAP in comedy ironically
Lose their money to comedy class and Pre show
Highway Men.
Comedy once esoteric has been franchised and become the Wall Street of entertainment.
Remember the modeling agencies that charged people for portfolios that proved to be worthless ?
Mo Money - Less Funny
